Why i Didn’t attend night meeting at Ruto’s hotel- Alfred Keter

Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter has come out to explain why he did not attend Tuesday’s night meeting held by Rift Valley MPs at Weston Hotel,in Nairobi.

The legislators, led by Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, met at the Deputy President William Ruto-owned Hotel to address contentious issues surrounding the ongoing evictions of settlers at the Mau Complex.

The second-time MP shunned the gathering saying he did not want to meet some leaders whom he described as ‘Ruto’s sycophants’.

“I did not attend the meeting. I have stayed away from such meetings since the 11th Parliament because of the sycophancy among some leaders,” said Keter on Wednesday as quoted by The Standard.

Mr Keter and his Moiben counterpart, Silas Tiren, further dismissed the meeting and said pertinent issues such as non-payment of maize farmers and underfunding of the agriculture sector had been ignored, yet the region heavily depended on farming.

Mr Tiren added that there were correct channels to address the eviction issue without sparking tensions.

Keter has been blaming Ruto’s allies over problems faced by the Kalenjin community such as maize scandal and evictions at the Mau water catchment area.

“I know William Ruto is brilliant, but he is surrounded by greedy and foolish people,” the outspoken legislator said recently moments after winning a case at the Court of Appeal in Eldoret.
