What Govt Will Do After Matiangi’s Sentencing – AG Kihara

Attorney General Paul Kihara has revealed that the government will is intending to challenge the conviction of Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, Immigration Principal Secretary Gordon Kihalangwa, and National Police Service Inspector General Joseph Boinnet for contempt of court orders.

According to Capital FM News,Kihara indicated that the State officers had not violated court orders saying they were committed to protecting and enforcing the rule of law.

He also assured government’s commitment to Immigration Laws and the International Conventions on Migration of Persons.

The conviction of Matiangi, Kihalangwa, Boinnet, as well as Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti, Flying Squad Boss Said Kiprotich, and the officer in charge of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) came a day after another a High Court Judge ordered the release of Miguna from the JKIA where he was restrained since he landed at 2:30pm on Monday.

Despite the orders, the fiery activist was deported for the second time after he was bundled into a Dubai-bound flight on Wednesday night.

Reports indicate that the plane carrying him touched down at the Dubai airport at around 5 am on Thursday morning.

He is currently receiving treatment at a Dubai hospital.
