Political pundit Mutahi Ngunyi on Sunday explained why President Uhuru Kenyatta is eagerly waiting for the swearing-in of National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga on 30th January.
In his weekly show dubbed the Fifth Estate, Ngunyi together with his team of young scholars from the Fort Hall School of Government observed that President Uhuru would use it as a revenge mission against the former Premier.
“In his heart Uhuru wants Raila to swear himself in,and that is why he hasn’t stopped him,and maybe, he even wants Raila to instigate national unrest by swearing himself in.This way Raila will play directly into Uhuru’s hands…”One of the student divulged.
According to the analysts, the Head Of state would not be looking forward to jailing or hanging Mr Odinga for treason, but instead would be taking the issue to the International Criminal Court(ICC),in Hague.
“..maybe Uhuru is not interested in treason and Kamiti express locally, maybe he wants to put Raila on the Hague express.
If Raila fixed Ruto and Uhuru at the ICC,maybe this is the revenge time for Uhuru…maybe this is why a trusted state house aide was dispatched at the Hague as ambassador..maybe he’s their to receive Raila at the ICC platform..you never know..” the student added.
While supporting Odinga’s inauguration bid, the team stated that he should establish people’s army, establish KRA to collect tax, appoint ambassadors and buy them embassies all over the world including Canaan.
“…Raila should swear himself him, jail or with no jail, this is the only way read what is in his heart ,and in his heart the oathing ceremony will be the first step towards secession, ” they stated.
The young team, however, opined that if the Opposition leader takes the bold step he would be charged with treason.
“It is suicidal; he is a victim of fellows who want to inherit him and passionate zealots with no political credentials… he will be arrested and charged, he will sleep at Kamiti that night. and that is why the Director of Public Prosecution(DPP) and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (CID) were changed,” the team noted.
The scholars furtehr predicted that Raila would avoid the treason charge by taking a different oath not prescribed in the Constitution and he would be subjected to a capital offense.
