Unlike in the past years where Heads of state have presided over the event at Nyayo Stadium, this year’s festivities will be held at the Moi International Stadium Kasarani.

Moreover, the fete will be conducted under a new theme aimed at fostering national unity.

“Being one of the most important dates on the country’s calendar, Kenyans are once again invited to rally in unity around the values of patriotism and moving the country forward in the spirit of Kenya Mbele,” the Government Spokesperson stated as quoted by Daily Nation.

Mr Kiraithe ,however, clarified that other traditional activities like military parades, cultural songs & dances and the ceremonial raising of the Kenyan flag will still be held.

The gates of the stadium will be open for the public as from 7 am.
