Uhuru Issues a subtle Response to Senator Murkomen

President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued a thinly-veiled response to claims that his proposed lifestyle audit on all public and state official has a malicious objective.

This follows recent allegations from Jubilee leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto, led by Senator Majority leader Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, that war against runaway graft has been skewed to target DP Ruto.

Speaking during the official opening of the Kenya-US Trade Conference at the United Nations headquarters in Gigiri, Nairobi on Thursday, President Kenyatta however clarified that the proposal was solely aimed at containing the rising cases of corruption in the country.

“This is not a fight between me and any individual. It a fight between all Kenyans against a negative vice that is denying our people jobs among other negative effects,” Uhuru said.

“It a fight against the vice that denies us of our ability to develop our country and to protect the next generation.” He added.

During an interview with Citizen television Sunday, the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator accused Mr Kenyatta’s inner circle of using the audit to point at Ruto, with an aim of raising suspicions on his integrity.

This, he said, is spearheaded by a faction of state house operatives whose end game is to stop Mr Ruto from ascending to power in 2022.
