President Uhuru Kenyatta has finally responded to claims that his younger brother,Muhoho Kenyatta, was involved in the sugar scandal.
An ally to the Deputy President and Aldai Member of Parliament Cornelius Serem brought up the issue of Muhoho ‘s involvement during the ongoing probe into the harmful sugar.
Speaking at Amcham Summit on Thursday,28th June,President Kenyatta indicated he has no qualms if his brother is found guilty in the scandal.
“If my brother is guilty let him face the law.”President Kenyatta said as quoted by K24.
This comes even after Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri defended President Uhuru Kenyatta’s brother Muhoho against claims that he imported sugar into the country.
“Muhoho Kenyatta didn’t import a single grain of sugar,” CS Kiunjuri said.
Speaking on Wednesday,Mr Kiunjuri turned the heat on Mr Serem, vowing to file a protest with the Powers and Privileges Committee over the latter’s move to name Mr Muhoho Kenyatta and his firm, Protech Investment Ltd, as having imported toxic sugar.
“You cannot be allowed to go and sit in Parliament and in a crude way, using a village approach, and decide that you want to malign the names of others and get off scot-free,” Mr Kiunjuri said.
“Even if he goes and stands on top of a tree or a mountain and says what he wants to speak, investigations have to go on,” added Mr Kiunjuri.
However, Kiunjuri did not deny the MP’s claim that the company is co-owned by the President’s brother.
“In fact, the company has never imported any type of sugar,” he said.
According to Kiunjuri, Muhoho’s company had applied for an importation license but never received any communication.
