Despite calls from National Super Alliance (NASA) Principals to their Senators and MPs to boycott Tuesday’s official opening of Parliament that was graced by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Alfred Sambu (Webuye East) and Charles Gimose (Hamisi) of Amani National Congress and Ford Kenya respectively attended the function.
Out of the 136 MPs from parties allied to the opposition coalition,the only two legislators attended the function, arguing that it’s their constitution mandate bestowed to them by their constituents.

“When you do not come to parliament, it is the people you represent who suffer since their issues will not be articulated,” said the President.

His sentiments were echoed all other principals,who convened a rally in Kibera on the same day instead.
