Otiende Amollo Reveals The Deady Disease That Intruded His Brain

Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo on Sunday spoke for the first time after his scary collapse during an event in Siaya over the weekend.

In a tweet, the National Super Alliance(NASA) legal counsel stated that upon diagnosis, doctors found that he was suffering from a strain of malaria parasite that had started to affect his brain.

He was later on transferred to the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu aboard a Red Cross ambulance to recuperate.
Siaya Senator James Orengo told journalists that the MP was stable and that there was no crisis.

“He has been in court, parliament and has been on the ground in his constituency. It is a matter of exhaustion and dehydration, but he is stable,” he assured.

According to medical journals, cerebral malaria (that affects the brain) is the most severe neurological complication of infection with Plasmodium falciparum (the malaria parasite).

With over 575,000 cases annually, children in sub-Saharan Africa are the most affected.

Surviving patients have an increased risk of neurological and cognitive deficits, behavioural difficulties and epilepsy making cerebral malaria a leading cause of childhood neuro-disability in the region.

Earlier in March, the Rarieda MP was involved in an accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru Road.

We wish him quick recovery..
