Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has opined that the embattled Embakasi East MP Babu Owino will emerge victorious in the by-election set to be held at his (Babu’s) constituency following the annulment of his victory.
Sakaja,a former comrade to Babu Owino at the University of Nairobi, argues that Mr Owino has the numbers to win the election by even a landslide.
“Believe it or not, if a by-election is called in Embakasi East, then Babu will win with a bigger margin than he did on August 8, 2017,” the Jubilee senator said in an interview with a local daily on Friday.
This is not the first time Senator Sakaja has gone against Jubilee’s tide on matters politics.
In January,Sakaja was praised and loathed in equal measure for managing to negotiate the release of Babu Owino, who was held at the Parklands police cells for allegedly assaulting a parking attendant in the Westlands area on January 11th.
On Friday,Babu Owino lost his MP seat after the High court nullified his election.
Making the ruling on Friday, justice Joseph Sergon said the elections were not free and fair.

The judge also said there were errors and irregularities during the election process.
Babu is yet to decide whether to appeal the decision at the Court of Appeal or head into the by-election.
