According to impeccable sources privy to The Standard Newspaper, a section of NASA leaders were pushing for mass action, because of frustrations NASA had encountered, including the refusal of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to allow them access to its servers to authenticate the results they were streaming on their portal.
However, some other NASA leaders cautioned about the repercussions of the peaceful demonstrations escalating into violent protests and the Jubilee government pinning the blame on them for any subsequent loss of lives.

Other than the mounting pressure from the international community for NASA to petition their grievances in court, another development that forced their hand was the State crackdown on two human rights groups.
Raila’s brigade had hoped that either the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) or Africa Centre for Open Governance (AfriCOG) would independently petition the poll results so that they would ride on their case.
But Monday’s threat to close the two, followed by a police raid at AfriCOG offices, left NASA with no choice but to opt for the legal way.
