Details have emerged that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto held a crisis meeting on Friday to iron out their differences.
The mid-morning to early afternoon meeting at State House, attended only by a handful of trusted handlers, occasioned changes on the programme at Pumwani Primary school where the DP had been scheduled to preside over a fundraiser.

Details about what transpired during the meeting remain scarce but it is believed that issues of corruption, contraband sugar and the 2022 presidential election were extensively discussed amidst concern that the open divisions could sink the party.
The bitter exchange between rival factions in Jubilee allied to the DP and the President was also discussed with a keen interest in mending the growing rifts.
Well-placed sources revealed that the President is concerned that early campaigns by DP Ruto’s camp could affect the Big 4 Agenda, with the head of state declaring that the time for politicking is over on numerous occasions.

It is understood that the two Jubilee party leaders resolved that a parliamentary group meeting would be held on Tuesday to sort out their differences, align the big 4 agenda and the fight against corruption as a priority.
According to Chris Suckling, senior analyst, Africa Country Risk at IHS Markit DP Ruto is unlikely to surnive the lifestyle audit ordered by President Kenyatta and could form the basis of the impeachment.
Kenyatta’s troupes could work with ODM to attain the two-thirds majority in parliament needed to impeach the DP.
Senate majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen and Baringo North MP William Cheptumo welcomed the decision to hold a parliamentary group meeting.
