Tension is rife in Kisumu after Kisumu Senator Fred Outa and former Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga are still missing after security agents arrested them on Wednesday for allegedly planning and disrupting the training of polls officials.
Nyanza Regional Coordinator Wilson Njega, in an incisive statement, warned attacks on IEBC officials performing their duties won’t be tolerated, adding that police won’t hesitate to arrest even leaders behind the disruptions.

Soon after, Kisumu County Chief of Staff Patrick Ouya confirmed that Ms Odinga and Mr Outa had been arrested for the chaos and “taken to an unknown police station.”
Ms Odinga’s PA, who spoke in anonymity, also confirmed Ruth Odinga’s arrest.
“I have moved to different police stations but not found her anywhere,” she said.
The phone numbers of the two leaders have remained switched-off since Wednesday even though Nyanza regional police boss Leonard Katana said on Thursday morning that they had not been arrested yet.
“We are yet to make any arrests on the leaders,” Mr Katana told the Daily Nation.

On Wednesday, Mr Outa and Ms Odinga vowed to thwart any efforts by the Electoral body to oversee the repeat presidential election slated for October 26th.
They said due to the withdrawal of Nasa leader Raila Odinga from the poll race, nobody should take up commission’s jobs or offer any services to the troubled agency until there are electoral reforms to enhance credibility.
However,speaking at the Nyanza regional headquarters in Kisumu ,Nyanza Regional Coordinator Mr Njenga said they won’t allow anybody, including leaders, to instigate chaos during training of poll officials.

Kisumu City Residents Voice Chairman Audi Ogada said he was also trying to follow up on the whereabouts of Mr Outa and Ms Odinga.
“Until now, I have not gotten any leads to their whereabouts, but [I’m] following up,” he said.
