Raila to Wetangula: Stop blaming me, senators rejected you

Ex-Prime Minister Raila Odinga has asked Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to stop dragging his name to his unprecedented woes at the Senate,and much more,getting his facts right before speaking ill of him.

In an explosive interview with the Daily Nation, Wetangula insisted that Raila plotted for his ouster by instructing ODM senators at a secret meeting.

“I am quite aware of meetings he held secretly to remove me from Senate Minority leadership. I have nothing against him and I have since moved on,” he said.

Wetangula also declared a painful political revenge against NASA leader Raila Odinga.

But through his spokesperson Dennis Onyango, Raila has dismissed Wetangula’s sentiments as personal vendetta and urged him not to be economical with the truth.

According to Odinga, he had no interest to orchestrate Wetangula’s removal thus his decision to ask CEO Norman Magaya to write to the Senate speaker to retain him.

“Wetangula knows facts as they are. He was rejected by senators from all NASA parties and not only ODM. No senator has complained about his removal,” he said.

The statement further stated:

“Efforts by Wetangula to avoid the facts and blame Odinga therefore point to personal vendetta and refusal to face and deal with facts.”

Even though Wetangula says Odinga failed to defend him, the statement adds, senators had accused him in his presence of being aloof, selfish and arrogant.

Here is the full statement;

We have read with keen interest the sentiments of former Senate Minority leader Mr. Moses Wetangula contained in the Daily Nation of today, April 10, 2018 in which he accuses H.E. Raila Odinga of engineering his ouster from his position last month.
We find the sentiments to be dishonest, frivolous and evasive. They are meant only to whip up emotions and sympathy over problems of the senator’s own making.
Mr. Wetangula knows the facts, and they are as follows: he was rejected by senators from all the NASA parties, not only ODM. To date, none of the NASA senators has come out to support Mr. Wetangula. That kind of rejection is unprecedented and pointed to a deep rooted problem between him and his colleagues.
The problems came out clearly in a meeting called by Mr. Odinga to broker understanding between the senator and his colleagues. The senators accused Mr Wetangula, in his presence, of being aloof, selfish, arrogant and having the tendency to impose decisions on them under the pretext that they were directives from the Summit, which often was not the case.
As head of NASA, Mr. Odinga did all he could to save Mr. Wetangula’s minority leadership, including instructing the Coalition’s CEO Mr. Norman Magaya to write to the Senate to retain Mr. Wetangula as Minority leader.
The persistent efforts by Mr. Wetangula to avoid the facts and blame his problems on Mr. Odinga therefore point to a personal vendetta and a refusal to face and deal with the truth.
