“This position has not been changed by the Court ruling, which did not come as a surprise. It was a decision taken under duress. We do not condemn the Court, we sympathize with it.”

“We in NASA had repeatedly declared before this Supreme Court ruling today that we consider this government to be illegitimate and do not recognize it,” he said.

Mr Uhuru’s victory of the October 26 poll was upheld by unanimous ruling by six judges of the Apex court.

Mr Lone added that the Court met under severely constrained circumstances, having failed to raise a quorum before a crucial pre-October 26 election hearing(that could have postponed the poll) over serious security concerns following the shooting of the Deputy Chief Justice’s driver.

He further claims the Court’s decision today could not possibly legitimize Jubilee’s government whose president had publicly threatened to ‘fix’ the judges once he was back in power and also accused the Court of having carried out a ‘coup’ by voiding his election.
