Raila to set record on political crisis straight before US Congress

National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga will this coming week take his quest for electoral reforms to the US Congress in an enduring objection of the Jubilee administration.

Nasa co-principal Moses Wetang’ula said Mr Odinga’s trip to the US was intended to set the records straight about the political impasse in Kenya.

According to Mr Wetang’ula,Raila was set to leave the country either last night or Sunday for Washington DC primarily to seek the support of the US Congress in ensuring democracy is restored in Kenya.

He is going to address the congress on the situation in Kenya,” Mr Wetang’ula told The Sunday Nation on telephone.

Speaking also at a campaign rally in support of Ford Kenya’s candidate for the Kitutu Chache South parliamentary seat Mr Richard Onyonka earlier in the day, the Bungoma senator said Mr Odinga’s speech to the Congress will centre on the injustices during the August 8th election and the October 26th polls.

News of Mr Odinga’s trip to the US came as the opposition coalition called upon their supporters to boycott certain services and products in a bid to push for reforms.

Mr Odinga’s mission to the US would appear to be part of Nasa’s strategy to reach out directly to the international community instead of going through envoys based in the country whom they have accused of being partisan.
