Winnie, the ex-wife of the former South African president Nelson Mandela died on April 2, at a Johannesburg hospital after a long illness.

Upon arrival, Odinga, his wife Ida Odinga and daughter Winnie, were received by Deputy President David Mabuza,head of African Union election observer group during last year’s general election,H.E Thabo Mbeki and a host of other dignitaries for the Winnie Mandela Memorial at Orlando Stadium.

What got Kenyans talking was Thabo Mbeki’s reunion with the former premier,considering how critical Raila Odinga was with elections observers who advised him to tow down when he complained of massive electoral misconducts when results began streaming in at Bomas of Kenya;

“Mbeki tena?”,one follower posed.

They also had a chance to meet with the former President of Malawi Bakili Muluzi.

Winnie Mandela would be laid to rest at the exclusive Fourways Memorial Park on Saturday, April 14, same place her late great-granddaughter Zenani Mandela was buried in 2010 following a car accident.

Kisii senator Sam Ongeri accompanied Odinga.
