Raila finally breaks silence on Miguna’s deportation

The National Super Alliance (NASA)  leader Raila Odinga has finally broken his silence on the deportation of his ally  Miguna Miguna.

The self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) General was flushed out of Kenya to Canada on Tuesday night on allegations of being in the country illegally.

Prior to his deportation, Miguna had been in police detention for five days for administering an ‘illegal’ oath to Raila as the people’s president on January 30 at Uhuru Park.

In an exclusive interview with the Standard newspaper, the NASA leader accused Jubilee regime of blackmail and said Miguna’s absence won’t derail opposition’s agenda on electoral reforms as its people-driven.

“His deportation will not affect the plans of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). Every revolution gets its leaders from the people and another shall rise to fill Miguna’s shoes,” Raila said on Thursday.

The former Prime Minister further lashed out at the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i for declaring NRM a criminal organisation and leading crackdown on individuals who organised his swearing-in, saying the CS was pursuing illusory targets.

“NRM is not an organisation, it is an idea in the hearts and minds of the people. Matiang’i is and will continue chasing shadows,” Raila told the local daily.
