Raila Speaks on Upcoming Ugenya By-election

National Super Alliance(NASA) leader Raila Odinga has declared that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party’s local campaigns machinery will be rolled out to ensure that legislators who head into by-elections following annulment of their wins,reclaim their seats.

Speaking in Ugenya during the burial of Rev David Odhiambo, Senator James Orengo’s uncle, Raila likened the upcoming mini-polls to battlefields.

In reference to former MP Chris Karan,who had lost his seat in a petition filed by former Ugenya MP David Ochieng, who had contested the position on a Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) ticket, Raila said that the ODM brigade in the county led by Governor Cornell Rasanga would camp in the constituency to ensure he wins the seat back.

Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and his Gem counterpart Elisha Odhiambo also reiterated that the party would reclaim all the seats lost to petitions.

“Karan is a steadfast soldier of the Orange movement. There is nothing to worry about the judgement because it is a non-issue. We will take an additional two seats to add to the four lost,” Wandayi was quoted by The Standard.

ODM legislator who have so far lost their seats through petitions lodged against them are;

  1. Homa Bay Governor- Cyprian Awiti
  2. Embakasi East- Babu Owino
  3. Ugenya MP Chris Karan
