President Kenyatta’s condition on having dialogue with Odinga

President Uhuru Kenyatta has once again maintained he is willing to show goodwill for dialogue with his counterpart Raila Odinga, but only on development-related agenda.

Speaking on phone during a morning live radio show, Kenyatta said he was not opposed to having discussions with Raila Odinga and his opposition team, but only on matters that could help the country move forward.

“Na mtu yeyote ana fikira za kuendeleza kenya, milango yangu iko wazi bila kujali rangi, dini. Lakini mambo ya siasa imeisha” (Whoevever has ideas and thoughts on how we could build a better kenya, my door will always be open for them. I won’t discriminate base on tribe, colour or religion, but it should not be on any political issue, the politics chapter is closed)

The National Super Alliance(NASA), led by Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka have been pushing for dialogue with President Kenyatta and his Jubilee team, insisting the need to to talk about electoral justice after prolonged electioneering period last year.

The opposition has threatened to form a parallel government if the Head of State does not heed to their pleas, with 30 January set as the date the two will be sworn-in.

The government has however warned the Opposition coalition that such a move could be ill-advised, as it is termed as high treason, which is punished by death.
