Otiende Amollo,Ahmednasir in trouble over their Comments on NYS Suspects

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legal counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi have expressed their support for the suspects in the NYS scandal after denial of bail,something that did not go well with most Kenyans on social media.

In a tweet, the Rarieda legislator strongly opposed the decision by Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti to deny the 43 suspects bail,arguing that bail was a basic right guaranteed in our constitution.

On his part, lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi‏ was equally displeased by the judgment passed by Chief Magistrate ,calling him a “Misguided magistrate.”

Another renowned lawyer, Nelson Havi, equally faulted the decision stating that:

“The unprecedented bail denial for NYS scandal suspects on account of “national security” alters the course of criminal law study and practice.”

“It will haunt many players in the trial as did similar decisions by Bernard Chunga, Samuel Bosire, and others. Will the High Court uphold it?” he posed.

Majority of netizens, however, expressed support for the magistrate’s decision,terming it a good move;
