The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) was last week involved in a bitter exchange of words with controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi on Twitter over claims that Deputy President William Ruto leased out his vehicles to the transport agency in the Sh631m government vehicle leasing programme.
Blogger Nyakundi alleged that calls by kenyans to disband the transport agency can not happen since the DP,christened as the ‘hustler‘ has been reaping huge profits from cars he leased to the agency.

In a swift rejoinder,
NTSA Director General Francis Meja had last week told the Business Daily that vehicles, stations wagons and ambulances would be deployed across the country as a part of an ongoing government vehicle leasing programme in which Urysia was contracted to supply 300 vehicles.
“This is the first time we are receiving vehicles under this lease programme. The vehicles shall go a long way in improving our competences.
“The vehicles will be used for all our monitoring purposes be it ensuring traffic laws are obeyed, including speed limits and curbing drunk driving. I shall flag off the new fleet next (this) week” Mr Meja told the Business Daily on Friday.
Speaking to a popular online magazine, NTSA Deputy Director of Communications, Dido Guyatu explained that the article was very clear in details.
“The article is very clear on how the vehicles were leased and that is the response we gave and moved on,” she stated.
On Wednesday, Nyakundi dragged DP Ruto into the bitter exchange by alleging that his expose’ on DP Ruto leasing his cars had forced the DP to put the transport agency to task.
