The National Super Alliance has resolved not submit its list of members to the Committee of Appointment of the National Assembly, Leader of Minority John Mbadi said on Wednesday.
The committee ,which is chaired by the Speaker,is responsible for vetting of Cabinet secretaries when they are nominated for appointment by the Head of State.
This resolve has an impact on the possibility of President Kenyatta reconstituting his Cabinet including the appointment of new Cabinet Sectritaries, following his reelection.
The ODM chairman said Nasa’s move was settled at during its Maanzoni meeting, in Machakos County, where the coalition’s leadership resolved not to recognize Uhuru as president.
“We do not want to be party to the appointment of CSs because we do not recognise the election of President Uhuru Kenyatta as President,” Mr Mbadi told The Daily Nation.
“This is the reason why we will not participate in the formation of this committee and the possibility of vetting his CSs.”
However, the Opposition submitted its representatives to the other House committees — Housekeeping, watchdog and departmental.
The Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act stipulates that nominees for Cabinet Secritary must be vetted by the National Assembly before the President formerly appoints them.
