Governor Nyong’o has been instructed by NASA leader Raila Odinga to ban any demonstrations in Kisumu unless called by NASA ,saying the city has been targeted by a group of hooligans who take advantage of demons to destroy and loot property.
“Raila Odinga has made it very clear that demonstrations will only be held in Nairobi after meeting NASA governors and I was there,” Nyong’o stated in a presser as quoted by Capitalfm.
Nyong’o labeled actions by youths who barricade roads, pelt vehicles with stones and rob locals during demonstrations as criminal acts.

“Somebody decides they’re going to block roads, take money from women and rob our visitors. These are criminal acts!”
He urged the police to deal firmly with those who go against the law adding that demos must be conducted in strict conformity to legal guidelines.
“Demonstrations must be peaceful and not violence and therefore we’ve told the police to deal with anybody putting stones on the road. Anybody molesting a dweller residing in Kisumu will be treated as a criminal,” Governor Nyong’o warned.
