NASA cancels their Tuesday anti-IEBC demos

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has called off anti-IEBC demos scheduled for today,17th October.

In an official statement to the newsrooms and their official social media pages,Raila Odinga’s spokesman, Dennis Onyango said it was a temporary step to allow NASA leaders visit protestors who had lost their loved one and those injured by police officers during the protests.

This is a temporary step to enable the coalition to attend to the supporters who were brutalized and hurt and families that lost loved ones today (Monday) after police and State-protected goons descended on protesters and Nasa leaders,” part of the statement read.

According to Mr Onyango,the countrywide protests will however resume on Wednesday.

Yesterday,one person believed to be a student was killed and several injured with serious wounds.

Mr Odinga has maintained that the protests will go on until the Independent Electoral & Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is properly reconstituted and also addresses their  ”irreducible minimums” demands.

On the other hand, President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday warned that police will not relent in dealing with protestors who pose a threat to them or other civilians.
