Mzee Moi’s top Aide Reveals Why His Life is In Danger

Former President Daniel Arap Moi‘s long-serving Press Secretary Lee Njiru has revealed that his life could be in danger.

This is after a government driver by the name Peter Ng’etich recorded a statement with Police accusing Mr Njiru of being in possession of a state vehicle illegally.

Mr Ng’etich told police at Menengai Police Station, Rongai in Nakuru County that Njiru was not entitled to the vehicle ‘as he was retired’.

From the statement recorded on on October 9, 2017,Ng’etich says the former President’s aide has retired and should not have a government car.

Njiru, however, dismissed the claim, saying that operatives were being used by powerful individuals to weaken his grip on the ex-President’s press office and asserted that his life could be in danger as a result of the statement.

Mr Njiru emphasized that he had not retired and that he was in office in accordance with the Presidential Retirement Benefits Act.

“Police might even shoot me, believing that l was a thief illegally possessing a government vehicle yet l am still a civil servant.”He told Nation.
“I want to make it very clear that I am still former President Daniel arap Moi’s press secretary. I am aware of some operatives being used by some prominent people to insinuate that I have retired, but I am ready for them,” he added.

He further said the government had renewed his contract for 3 years which will end on June 30, 2020.

A letter signed by former State House comptroller Lawrence Lenayapa, dated June 5, 2017, indicated that Mr Njiru’s contract had indeed been extended to June 30, 2020.
