Mzee Moi sends Raila a message ahead of Uhuru’s Inauguration

Former President Daniel Arap Moi has expressed confidence in his political godson, President Uhuru Kenyatta, to unite Kenyans after a lengthy and divisive election period.

In a congratulatory message to Uhuru on his re-election, Mzee Moi also asked Opposition leader Raila Odinga to respect democracy and accept to work with the government in order to forge the country ahead.

“I urge them to have the courage to accept your call for unity and work with you in finding sustainable solutions that bolster inclusive institutions that address long-standing societal grievances in the spirit of brotherhood,” Moi said as quoted by The Star.

The long-serving Kenyan President further urged  Mr Kenyatta to focus on uniting the country as the only solution to development for all Kenyans.

“Having served in the position that you hold today, I know the huge task that you are about to face in your second term as you try to unite the country against a backdrop of deep political and ethnic divisions,” read Moi’s message in part.

Mzee Nyayo, nonetheless, expressed his confidence in Uhuru to will unite Kenyans by ensuring that everybody feels part and parcel of project Kenya.

He further urged Uhuru to get the country back to its feet, rebuild the economy and restore institutions.

Mzee Moi’s message come after the head of state paid him an impromptu visit at his Kabarak residence,Nakuru,over the weekend.

They talked on a number of issues yet to be disclosed to the public.
