Former Meru governor Peter Munya has decided to apply for withdrawal of his petition challenging Kiraitu Murungi’s win in the August 8th election.
Munya today,27th November, asked the High Court to allow him to withdraw the suit. The court has given him up to December 4 to file the application.
He told journalists outside the court that he settled on that decision following frantic calls from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Munya said he’s decided to give Govorner Kiraitu ample time to work and develop the county.
In October, President Kenyatta reaffirmed his pledge to award Munya with a position in government after he switched his allegiance from NASA to Jubilee.
The head of State said at that time that he would give a job to the loser of the August poll that was hotly contested by Munya and Murungi.
The two had been at loggerheads after the August election but reconciled after Uhuru’s intervention.

Kiraitu won by 281,737 votes while Munya garnered 232,569.
