Jubilee Leader President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday,8th November, suffered a major blow after his party lost its bid to be enjoined in a application challenging the contentious election laws.
The controversial bills were assent to election laws by President Kenyatta shortly after the October 26th election.

Two civil society organisations,however,filed a petition at the High Court seeking the suspension of implementation of the amendments introduced in the Elections (General) Act.
The two organistions are namely; Katiba Institute and the Centre for Open Governance.
Jubilee Party’s application seeking to be enjoined was dismissed by High Court Judge Chacha Mwita.
Judge Mwita ruled that the case was of national interest and no longer a political party issue.

The judge had initially suspended any petition of the contentious bill until the matter was heard and determined.
If the High Court suspension on the election laws is lifted, then it will apply in the hearing of new petitions filed at the Supreme court challenging Uhuru Kenyatta’s second Presidential win.
