Margaret Kenyatta Speaks On Succeeding Uhuru at the Helm

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on Thursday responded to proposals to join mainstream politics and subsequently contest for presidential elections in 2022.

During her visit at Borabu, Mrs Kenyatta was endorsed for the top seat by  Borabu MP Ben Momanyi and Nyamira Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi.

The First lady, however, humbly turned down the endorsement and maintained she is focused to ensure her husband, Uhuru Kenyatta leaves a good legacy when he retires in 2022.

“I thank you for such support. It is always dream of everyone to lead this beautiful country,” she said.

“But I am not into politics all I want is unity and realisation of good lives for the people of Kenya. I am not interested in politics.”The first lady added.

Currently, Deputy President William Ruto and Baringo senator Gideon Moi are pushing for early campaigns to replace Uhuru in 2022.

Interestingly, veteran politician Raila Odinga last week dismissed calls to be on ballot saying he was only interested in working closely with Uhuru.
