The surprise ceasefire address to the nation by President Uhuru Kenyattta and his political foe Raila Odinga on Friday last week has been hailed as a ‘blessing’ by President of The Supreme Court David Maraga.
While the truce is still facing resistance from a section of Opposition leader,Chief Justice Maraga says the move was necessary to a polarized nation.

“It is good that President Uhuru and Raila have come together. Let us talk unity and peace,” he told a congregation on Wednesday in Westlands during a requiem mass for Prof. Oeri Tumbo.
” It is even significant and a blessing because we dearly needed it. This is the time to heal our country.”He added.
Last year, Maraga came under immense criticism from President Kenyatta after nullifying his victory with the Head of State vowing to ‘fix’ the judiciary.
