Kenyans On Twitter,popularly referred to as KOT, attacked the University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter M.F.Mbithi on Twitter over what they felt was an inconsiderate remark reports circulating around about alleged police brutality against students of the institution.
Through the official UON administration page,the VC refuted claims some students lost their lives on the hands of brutal police who used excessive force in quelling their demonstration.
The demonstrations were against the re-arrest and detainment of former UoN student leader and now Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
“Contrary to the fake news that is circulating on social media platforms,no student or lecturer has lost his life.”read the post.
The tweet rubbed Kenyans on twitter the wrong way.They criticizes the institution’s lack of urgency over the matter.
Raw videos have been circulating on social media showing General Service Unit officers clobbering students in their halls of residence.
