Mombasa County commissioner Director of Communication Mr. Chacha speaking on behalf of Joho said the NASA legislators only spoke to please the Deputy President.
“The MPs only spoke at the heat of the moment,” Chacha told Kenyans.co.ke via phone.
He said that despite the turn of events, the governor believes that he still has the backing of the coastal leaders and Kenyans at large as he prepares for the 2022 Presidential race.
Commenting on whether the move has in any way affected Joho’s 2022 political ambitions, Mr Chacha noted:
“The governor is still eyeing the top seat.We still have our support base intact despite the utterances made on Sunday,” added Chacha.
Over the weekend, at least 15 Nasa and Jubilee Party legislators pledged to support him in 2022 when he is expected to vie for the presidency.
