Students who spoke to media on Wednesday said the Muslim student was in form one and his Christian schoolmate in form four.
This was reportedly after another Muslim student was taken off a queue to the dining hall for getting ahead of his schoolmates.
The matter was reported to principal Fred Awuor who calmed the students. However,a bigger fight broke out the following day,at night.
“The matter worsened and even escalated to the classrooms. The principal came but he was roughed up by our Muslim schoolmate,” one of the student told The Star.
Students subscribing to the Islamic faith took the fight to Christians after they began pushing their Christian colleagues for mass conversion to their faith.
Citing one of the reason of their actions, learner Mohammed Gulled said: “He is the person diving us. Christians are favoured. We have lessons until 4.30pm sowe cannot pray. He has brought guards who are now in charge of the mosque. That is not right. We don’t carry bombs to this place.”
The school’s principal Fred Awuor was caught up in the knife-fight and was rushed to the hospital after getting seriously wound.
Several security officers led by Nairobi police commander Japeth Koome rushed to the school and contained the situation. Those injured were taken to hospital.
Details of how the students got to the school with knives remain scanty.
Religious leaders, education officials, parents and teachers thronged the school to counsel the students.
The institution has since been closed indefinitely by the school’s board.
