Muhoroni voters have protested at a mix-up in which former area MP Ayiecho Olweny was indicated to be the ODM candidate winning the Muhoroni Parliamentary seat instead of Onyango K’Oyoo.
All day-long, IEBC’s results portal showed Prof Ayiech Olweny as the ODM candidate in Muhoroni parliamentary seat, yet his name was not even on the ballot paper. With over 90% of the votes tallied on the portal,Prof Olweny seems to be the winner of the seat with 13,614 votes while John Ouma comes a distant second with 1,504 votes (as at this writing).

Extremely vexed,Muhoroni Voters threatened to storm the constituency tallying center after it emerged K’Oyoo’s votes were awarded to Prof Olweny. The tallying process had to be temporarily stopped as security officers tried to calm the situation.
Returning Officer Alice Cheruiyot acknowledged the mistake and explained it was caused by the numerous changes made to the list of candidates.
“When the ruling that confirmed K’Oyoo’s candidature was made, the KIEMS system had been configured to show that the ODM candidate was Olweny. Hence the results reflected in Olweny’s name,” said Cheruiyot as reported by Standard Digital Entertainment.
