Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has finally responded claims of having neglected Eva Buyu Msando, widow of the late IEBC ICT manager Chris Msando.
In a series of tweets,Human Rights activist Boniface Mwangi had earlier on accused the electoral agency for not offering financial support to Mrs Msando after her husband’s untimely demise.
“She is appealing to @IEBCKenya to help educate her kids. She is also looking for a job to feed her children. @RailaOdinga,” Mwangi added.
Mr Mwangi also accused Inspector General Joseph Boinnet for not availing the car her late husband was using;
“Eva Buyu, the widow of Chris Msando, who was brutally murdered in the line of duty is pleading with Kenya Police @JBoinnet to return her late husband’s car.
Responding to Mr Mwangi’s tweets, IEBC said:
“We are hurt by the loss of our colleague Msando. We asked and still wait for answers.
“And as for support to the family, we feel this is not a matter to discuss here. But to all well-meaning people, rest assured we care,” read IEBC’s reply.
The former Starehe Constituency aspirant had highlighted Ms Buyu’s plight after it emerged that she was looking for a job to cater to the needs of her family.
IEBC Communications Director Andrew Limo also disclosed to a popular online magazine ,through a text ,that the agency has so far done what they could have to help Mrs Msando.
“Like many institutions the staff made personal contributions as the office processed dues applicable.We do not discuss details of such personal matters regarding our employees on public spheres, ” read the text.
Last week,Ms Buyu appealed for help in taking care of their children.
Msando’s widow made her plea in a moving letter to Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o who read it as Kenya Human Rights Commission marked 25 years of operations at a Nairobi hotel.
