The IEBC has Disowned Results Streaming on their Portal, saying they are mere Statistics.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has disowned results uploaded on their portal and streamed to the public after the August 8th elections in the wake of its legal tussle with NASA chief Raila Odinga.

In their response to Raila’s petition filed on Thursday, the IEBC categorically terms results showing on its portal as mere “statistics” and says the only true figures are those penned in statutory forms.

In his petition, seen by The Star,Raila says data entered in the KIEMS for 10,000 polling stations and displayed at the Bomas of Kenya did not match with information and data recorded on Forms 34A from polling station.

The NASA leader initially complained the IEBC system was hacked and results beamed to the public were fabricated.

The IEBC,however, came out and refuted this claim.

“The data entered in KIEMS was statistics. The result of the election from each polling station was contained in Forms 34A. It is therefore incorrect to compare statistics entered in KIEMS with results from each polling station as contained in Forms 34A,” the IEBC now says as quoted by The Star.

NASA brigade, led by head of their legal team,James Orengo, said on Friday it would expose how fraud and forgery took place during the poll.

Presidential results in the IEBC portal currently show Kenyatta won by 8,223,369 votes (54,17 per cent) against Raila’s 6,822,812 votes (44,94 per cent).

However, at the Bomas, Kenyatta was declared winner by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati having garnered 8,203,290 votes (54.27 per cent) against Raila’s 6,762,224 (44.74 per cent).

The hearing of the petition will begin  today at a pre-trial conference before the seven Supreme Court Judges led by Chief Justice David Maraga.
