Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba has finally broken his silence over reports from mainstream media that he had gone to court to block Chair Wafula Chebukati from sacking him.
This is after chair Chebukati came up with a new list of senior commissioners he wants to oversee the upcoming repeat polls where Chiloba was conspicuously missing.
Earlier yesterday,September 7th,the Kenya Independent Commissions Workers Union filed a case against IEBC in court over the threat to fire IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba and others from office.
However, the Labour Court declined to issue orders barring the suspension of Chiloba and electoral officials by Chebukati.
Chiloba, who is among those blamed by NASA for being involved in electoral malpractice, has however come out to deny being involved in blocking Chebukati’s move.
“Let it be known that I have not instructed anyone to go to Court on my behalf on any matter. We make progress if we avoid sideshows”,read his post on Twitter.
Chiloba’s response comes after a hard-hitting IEBC memo leaked to the public where Chebukati had written to him demanding answers on what went wrong with the August 8 presidential poll.
IEBC vice chair Connie Nkatha and four other commissioners disowned the memo claiming that it had not been brought to their attention.
It’s now open revolt at the commission and we shall keep you up to date as it unfolds…
