Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua has supported Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s new push for amendments of the constitution.
While addressing residents of Kisii town on Thursday,Dr Mutua stated that the constitution should be amended to create more posts to accommodate more people in government.
The Machakos governor was in Kisii on official visit where he also made headlines when a bridge he was standing on alongside Kisii deputy Governor, Joash Maangi, collapsed.

“We have good people who will make good leaders but they have been denied the opportunity to work in government. I don’t see any problem when Raila is pushing for the changes in the constitution to be made,” he said.
He also took a dig at Deputy President William Ruto for opposing the constitutional changes saying his plans will not succeed.
“This is not 2010 where Ruto made Raila and other leaders sweat. It is a simple test and I am urging Ruto to accept the changes to be made in the constitution for his own good because once he loses in 2022 he will still be accommodated into the government,” he noted.
He called on Kisii county residents to be firm and ignore leaders like Ruto who are opposing the constitutional amendments.
