Former Governor Rutto Speaks and denies asking for CS Job

Former Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto has broken his silence and refuted claims that he supported President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection in exchange of a cabinet position.

He insisted he was not coerced by anyone, but made a choice to work with Jubilee and termed the claims as baseless.

Speaking to the press at Kipreres, Bomet, on Monday, the former Bomet boss maintained he is still the Chama cha Mashinani (CCM) Party leader and a champion for devolution.

“My ideas and principles have not changed because I support Jubilee. I am still in CCM and support development at the grassroots,” he said,The Star reports.

“Free secondary education, support for the elderly and devolution, which are in the Jubilee manifesto, are similar to what I was pushing for in CCM. I will support Jubilee to ensure the leadership delivers,” Rutto added.

Rutto said Jubilee has good agenda for the country and needs Kenya’s support to accomplish them, regardless of our political divide.

Rutto opened up on his lengthy vendetta with the Deputy President William Ruto by revealing that he agreed to bury his differences with the DP for the sake of peace and unity.

Rutto said he, the President and the DP go way back and there is no point to have animosity among them.

In September this year, Mr Rutto joined UhuRuto for a rally in Kapkatet, a month after the bungled August 8 Presidential Election.

Rutto was among leaders who welcomed President Uhuru after they landed in the area.
