Raila-Orengo in closed door meeting

Days after speculations about their fallout, exclusive details have emerged ODM leader leader Raila Odinga and Siaya Senator James Orengo are said to have held a closed door crisis meeting in Bondo on Monday evening.

A source within ODM has intimated to Hivisasa that Raila no longer holds Orengo as part of his kitchen cabinet, with the coup in the Senate following the ‘noisy’ ouster of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula being the genesis of the reported fallout out.

Before their ongoing meeting at Odinga’s Opoda Farm, the two leaders met members of Luo Council of Elders, which has also been firing salvos to Raila following his decision to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In several public meetings, Orengo has been leading troops against the peace deal between the two principals, arguing that Raila’s reform credentials could be sabotaged should he continue working with Uhuru.

Notably, it will be the first meeting between the two in as many weeks, after Raila making high profile tours without Orengo, a one time trusted adviser.

Instead, Raila has been keenly working with Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Abdulswamad Nassir, George Khaniri among others.

Conspicuously, Orengo was not part of Raila’s meeting with Uhuru, retired Presidents Mwai Kibaki and Daniel Moi.

It is not clear what the two leaders discussed but woes at the Senate and Uhuru’s deal with Raila formed part of their agenda.
