New details revealed by examiners who took part in the marking of the 2017 KCSE examinations have now raised worries over the quality of the results released by Education CS Fred Matiangi on Wednesday.
The Nation on Thursday quoted unauthorized sources who were privy to the marking process supervised by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
According to sources close to The Daily Nation ,and who were part of the marking process, examiners were pressurized lot, to conclude the exercise so that results are released on time.

KNEC provided strict guidelines during the marking of the exam, but examiners noted that some of them were not followed at all, especially on marking time, which was supposed to be from 7am to 7pm ,with a 30-minute tea and lunch break in between.
Where there was a need to work beyond these hours, the chief examiner was required to liaise with the council for such extension.
“Previously, we used to do marking up to December 25 but this year we were under a lot of pressure. Even on Jamhuri Day, despite being a national holiday, teachers were not allowed to rest,” an English teacher told the Nation .
“We used to mark the examination papers up to 10pm and wake up by 5am so that by 6am, we are already back into marking centres to continue with the job,” he further confided.
Knec chairman George Magoha on Wednesdayrefuted claims that the marking, which took 30 days, was hurriedly done, insisting it was carried out according to plan.
