Foreign envoys in Kenya have threatened travel bans against politicians who sow mobocracy or hinder preparations for the Presidential repeat polls scheduled to take place on 26th October.
According to sources privy to The Daily Nation within the Jubilee Party and NASA confided that the warning was a culmination of concerted efforts by the foreigners to get the two sides negotiate and compromise on how the repeat polls will be managed.

According to the sources, the envoys, led by US’s Robert Godec and British Deputy High Commissioner Susie Kitchens, observed that failure to hold the repeat election as slated by the IEBC could plunge the country into a constitutional crisis.
Further, the envoys have been pushing the two parties to drop some of their hard stance and arrive at a middle ground arguing that most of the demands cannot be realized due to time constraints.
NASA is demanding for the sacking of IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba & Co implicated in bungling of the August 8th elections, as well the cancellation of tenders awarded to technology company Safran Morpho and printer Al-Ghurair.
Jubilee has, on the other hand, proposed a raft of amendments to the electoral laws that seeks to scale down the powers of IEBC chairman as well as that of the judiciary in dealing with election petitions.

A source close to the former prime minister said the ambassadors reached out to the coalition’s presidential candidate and asked him to compromise on their demands and calls for mass action to force changes within the electoral body.
“The envoys argued that while it was prudent to make changes within the IEBC, removing the officials at this time could be risky as there would be less or no time to recruit new officers,” the Daily Nation’s source said.
The EU, had in its detailed report made a raft of proposals to ensure accountability and transparency of the repeat polls and called for the probe and possible prosecution of IEBC officials implicated with gross electoral misconducts.
