Duale’s Message To Jubilee MPs that Has Fueled Protests Against Uhuruto

National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has stirred a brawl between Jubilee Party legislators and its Party leadership headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

The Majority Leader is said to have sent a text message to the MPs ahead of the vote on the list of Parliamentary Service Commission with strict orders to attend the session without fail.

They were also to bring their electronic voting cards.

Other than making voting easier, the electronic card was to serve an even more important role — monitor how Jubilee MPs voted in the event the motion necessitated casting a ballot.

According to the impeccable sources privy to the matter,a majority of Jubilee lawmakers were opposed to the appointment of Nominated Senator Beth Mugo and Eldas MP Adan Keynan to the PSC on grounds that the two were personalizing the commission with their long tenure, even though Uhuruto in the end had their way.

The move has since upset Jubilee MPs who have accused State House of high handedness and meddling in Parliament affairs.

The legislators were further angered after the ruling party sidelined Homa Bay Woman representative Gladys Wanga to nominate Wiper party’s Ben Momanyi.

“What justification was there to reject Wanga and leave Keynan, who has personalised the commission?” one of the MPs who spoke to Daily Nation questioned.

Other events that left the MPs discontented were the recent elections of chairs of various committees in the National Assembly and the Senate where line-ups were crafted at State House and pushed down their throats.

This comes as Jubilee MPs have been getting dress-downs whenever they attend parliamentary group meetings at State House.

The MPs have also received ban from attending any media or radio talks.
