DP Ruto Pleads with Raila On His Next Move

Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday cowered down for the first time after he humbly pleaded with NASA Presidential candidate Raila Odinga to participate in the upcoming repeat Presidential poll.

The DP was speaking in Mombasa where Jubilee had taken its campaigns.

While Ruto has consistently scorned and ridiculed the NASA team, his tone on Sunday was different from his characteristic self where he appeared to invite the opposition leader for dialogue.

We want peace. We don’t want chaos and violence. Demonstrations will not solve our problems. If they are true democrats, they should peacefully agree to participate in the elections so Kenyans can make a decision. As it is now, they are trying to run away from the election.

“As you can see these fellow want to avoid the poll citing excuses. We want to ask them, let them be honorable and face President Kenyatta on the ballot or they should not have an alternative of making our country ungovernable because that’s not acceptable,” Ruto said.

Ruto’s plea comes after Raila is set to leave the country for international trips that will see him visit the United States and the United Kingdom for an unspecified period of time.

While speaking at a Jubilee Party rally held at the Serani grounds, President Kenyatta said he remained committed to working together with all leaders in order to find solutions to problems facing coast residents.

“There’s no problem that cannot be solved when people sit down, dialogue and respect each other. We want to make Kenya a better place for each and every one of us but that cannot happen if we’re not working in unity,” the Head of State said.

During the political rally, former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar declared his support for President Kenyatta’s re-election saying residents of the region will not accept any further deception by leaders of the opposition alliance.
