Brown envelop is a term in journalism which refers to a practice whereby monetary inducement is given to journalists to make them write a positive story or kill a negative story. The name is derived from cash inducements hidden in brown envelopes and given to journalists during press briefings.
A section of social media users claimed Raila had probably taken some ‘bribe’ to Mzee as he solicited for a political union with Gideon Moi.
Raila’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango, however, said the visit was apolitical and only meant to take good wishes to Mzee after a knee surgery in Israel.
He further added that the meeting was a courtesy call Mr Odinga paid Mzee Moi in a bid to consult with him on the current state of political affairs in the Nation.
Interestingly, political pundits have flatly rejected this position.
