Mohammed Abdi Mohamud (pictured left above) of Wajir is the first governor to lose his seat in an election petition after the High Court nullified his election.
This follows a petition filed by his predecessor Ahmed Abdullahi who convinced the court that Mohamud does not possess the requisite qualification to hold the office.

Abdullahi had also opposed the election claiming it was marred by massive irregularities.
The High Court has now directed that a fresh election be held in the county.
