CJ Maraga Rejects Voter’s application to be enjoined into petitions

The hearing challenging Kenyatta’s re-election was presided over by Chief Justice David Maraga, and as expected,it was marred with drama as emotions ran high.

In one of the incidents,a voter by the name Caleb Wamaya stood up to the Judges ,conspicuously agitated by the court’s decision to dismiss his application to be enjoined in the petitions as interested parties.

Justice Jackton Ojwang said his request could not be accommodated because the court’s resources and time are now directed at the case, which has a limited period for hearing and determination.

Mr Wamaya rose to protest, arguing the judges were unfair to him and denied him an opportunity to get justice.

Justice Maraga, however, was unmoved and unimpressed and told him off.

“What you do: find a way, talk to MPs and ask them to change the law to give us a full year to listen to cases like this,” said the Chief Justice.

The CJ had on Tuesday told another vexed applicant that allowing him to join the case would be tantamount to opening the doors to all other 19 million registered voters to do the same, which would not be convenient to the court.
