The Communications Authority of Kenya has switched off Citizen Television and Radio in most parts of the country over the coverage of the NASA ‘swearing-in’ plan.
This comes just a day after it emerged that the government had allegedly threatened to switch off and revoke licenses of the media houses that will cover the controversial swearing in ceremony.
It’s being reported that Communication Authority of Kenya officials are behind the shutdown.

In a statement to the public,Citizen TV Managing Director Wachira Waruru (pictured above) has informed their audience that they are ‘actively engaging the relevant government authorities to establish the reason for this action.’
“We would like to confirm that this morning the Communication Authority disconnected Citizen and Inooro TV transmission. There has been no official communication as to why this action was taken. We are actively engaging the relevant government authorities to establish the reason for this action. We hope to resume normal transmission as soon as possible.” Read a statement from Wachira Waruru.
