The Judiciary has finally spoken out on the swearing-in ceremony announced by National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday,November 28.
Responding to a question by a journalist at a presser,Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi stated that the judiciary had not received any formal communication from NASA about the inauguration.
“The Judiciary has not been notified on the inauguration ceremony planned by the Opposition party,” said Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi at Pride Inn Hotel .
Earlier on, Tuesday last week,NASA leader Raila Odinga announced he would be taking the Oath of Office on December 12th,which will also be Kenya’s 54th independence day celebration.
“I am not a coward, I will be sworn as president on Jamhuri Day, I am the legitimate president,” said Raila as quoted by Standard.
He also maintained that he did not recognize the August 8 and October 26, 2017 polls conducted by Electroral Commission (IEBC), insisting they were a charade.
According to The Saturday Standard,NASA has already sent invitation cards for the inauguration ceremony.
Though details of the swearing-in are still scanty, NASA leaders said they are at latter stages of preparing for the event.
However,It is not clear whether the ceremony will meet constitutional threshold, what instruments of power Raila will have, and whether a guard of honour will be mounted by defence forces as happens at the presidential inauguration ceremony.
