The committee working on Uhuru Kenyatta’s swearing-in ceremony has been hit by an acute cash crunch which could deny the ceremony the usual flare and glare associated with such a high-profile national fete.
This means there could be less dignitaries lined up to grace the occasion slated on 28th November at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

According to Government spokesman Eric Kiraithe, lack of investors, tourists and National Super Alliance (NASA) street protests ,which forced matatu owners to withdraw their vehicles from the roads, were the main reasons that hampered tax collection.
He explained the cash shortage was caused by unexpected huge expenditures from the August election campaign period to the October 26 repeat poll.
“A lot of resources were committed to security to prevent disruption of voting as was witnessed in some constituencies,” he said. “Much expenditure could not have been incurred had people adhered to lawful ways of doing things.”Said Kiraithe as quoted by The Star.
Military officers have already secured the stadium and are rehearsing at the venue ahead of the ceremony whose costs have been quoted to be Sh300 million.
The government ,through acting Interior Security CS Fred Matinag’i,has already gazetted Tuesday as a national holiday for the ceremony.
